Questions

How can I be saved?

This is the oldest question in the Bible, and it has a short answer. You are not saved by being good enough. You are saved by trusting what Jesus Christ has already done for you.

Every one of us needs saving

Scripture is blunt about this, and it levels everybody: the respectable and the wrecked stand in exactly the same place before God. Sin is not a list of embarrassing habits; it is going your own way instead of God's.

Jesus paid what you could not pay

The cross is not God being angry with an innocent man. It is God Himself stepping into our place and taking the death that sin earns, then rising from the grave three days later.

You receive it by faith, not by effort

Salvation is a gift. You do not clean yourself up first, any more than a drowning man swims to shore before being rescued. You believe, you confess, you receive.

What the Bible says

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.Romans 3:23 (KJV)
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.Romans 6:23 (KJV)
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.Romans 10:9 (KJV)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)
