The Christian life

You are a new creation

By Jeremy Osborn

You may not feel different today. What Scripture says happened does not depend on how you feel.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

What Scripture says

In Christ you are a new creature. Not repaired, not upgraded — new. And the One who started the work has promised to finish it.

What this means

Your past is now your testimony rather than your identity. Failure from here on is a stumble on the way home, not proof you were never on the road.

Go deeper

John says you were given power to become a son or daughter of God. The Christian life is learning to live out what is already true of you.

Supporting Scripture

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

John 1:12 (KJV)

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6 (KJV)

Think about it

What old label have you been carrying that God has just taken off you?

Put it into practice

Write down today's date. This is the day God made you new. Tell one person.

Pray

Father, thank you that I am yours. Help me live like the person you have already made me. Amen.
