Why do Christians need the church?
Nothing in the New Testament imagines a Christian life lived entirely alone. You are a member of a body.
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another.”
What Scripture says
Believers are told to keep meeting, to stir one another toward love, and to hold to teaching, fellowship, bread and prayer together.
What this means
Church attendance does not save you. But a coal out of the fire goes cold, and a Christian out of community usually does too.
Go deeper
If church has hurt you, Scripture takes that seriously. Take your time, and look for a church that loves the Bible, tells the truth, and treats people gently.
