What is a disciple?
Jesus never asked for admirers. He asked for followers, and then told those followers to go and make more.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”
What Scripture says
The commission is to make disciples — baptising and teaching them to obey. Paul describes the same thing as four generations deep: me, you, faithful people, others also.
What this means
A disciple is a learner and a follower, not a graduate. Discipleship is not a course you complete; it is a life you hand on.
Go deeper
Multiplication, not addition, is how one billion becomes possible. One person discipling one person, repeatedly.
